Meet the Oneders!

We hope you will enjoy learning with us this year as we travel to community service projects throughout the central United States and Gulf Coast regions. Happy travels!
Maria C.
Hi! My name is Maria and I’m the team leader for E1. I’m originally from Long Island, New York. For the past 6 years I lived in Pennsylvania, where I attended and worked at Bucknell University. I earned a BA in Classics from Bucknell and an MS in Library Science from Drexel University. I am looking forward to a really great year in AmeriCorps NCCC, especially working with my team in Tennessee for our first project. I love the outdoors and enjoy reading lots of good books.
Robert
My name is Robert. I’m from Connecticut. I wanted to join the Peace Corps, but I wasn’t old enough. While looking for other ideas, I found AmeriCorps NCCC. My family has a beach and tennis club that I work at and will own sometime down the road. Two things I like to do most are going off-roading and snowboarding.

Katie
I am 21 and am from San Francisco, California. I just graduated from UC Berkeley this past December with a BS in Integrative Biology. Being in the public education system all my life, America has given me a great deal, and AmeriCorps NCCC stood out to me as the perfect way to give back a little bit. I am so excited to be in the position to be able to lend a hand where it is asked for, and to be able to do so with so many motivated and diverse people by my side. I have no doubt that this is going to be a rewarding and challenging life-changing experience.
Kate
I’m from the Capital District of New York, and I went to the State University of New York for Environmental Science and Forestry. I found out about AmeriCorps NCCC through a college fair, where I learned about the wonderful things I could accomplish through being in the program. Due to my passion for the community and environment, I joined. After NCCC, I plan on continuing my education to help the environment. In my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with friends, especially dancing.
Amanda
My name is Amanda. I am 22 and a recent graduate from Elan University. I am originally from North Carolina and have been assigned to central campus in Denver, Colorado. AmeriCorps NCCC is giving me the opportunity to serve our country and aid those communities that request assistance. AmeriCorps NCCC also provides a unique experience for personal growth, travel, and interaction with other young adults.
Paige
Hi, my name is Paige, and I’m from Massachusetts. I went to school at Old Rochester Regional High School and then to Mitchell College. I am very excited to be a part of AmeriCorps NCCC, because I like to make a difference in the lives of others. I hope to gain new skills and more self confidence from this experience.

Sam
I graduated from State University of New York-Plattsburgh in 2007 with a BS in Computer Science. I also studied abroad for a semester in Chester, England. I enjoy ultimate Frisbee, acting, and playing games. I’m very excited about trail building and living outdoors in Tennessee. After AmeriCorps NCCC, I plan to go to grad school in New York.
Mallory
I’m a 23-year-old native Floridian. I plan to finish my BA in social work, and in my down time, I love to sketch, read, and write letters. I am excited about my year serving in AmeriCorps and can’t wait to share my experiences with others! I hope to travel anywhere and everywhere possible. I absolutely love life!
Levi
My name is Levi. I’m from southwest Pennsylvania. I just graduated high school last year and decided to take a year off before I go to college, to get things together and figure out what I want to do. After NCCC, I plan to go to school to be an architect or a graphic designer. Also, I might try to put off the real world a little longer and travel around the world through various programs such as the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS).

I’m from New Hampshire, and I graduated in 2007 from Plymouth State University with a BS in Developmental Psychology. I’ve wanted to join NCCC for a long time, and I’m excited to finally be here. I’m excited to travel and do some direct service for others. I also enjoy hiking, camping, skiing, kayaking, aerobics, and reading. I’m kind of in love with Colorado, and I hope to stay out there after AmeriCorps.
